College of Art & Design
As manager of communications for the LSU College of Art + Design, Angela Harwood generally serves as a communications specialist for the college and its alumni engagement, fundraising initiatives, and development efforts. She writes press releases, articles, and website content to promote and enhance the image of the college, including the School of Art, School of Architecture, School of Interior Design, and Robert Reich School of Landscape Architecture. She works with the LSU Office of Communications and University Relations to disseminate information about the college to campus, local, and national media. Angela determines the college’s editorial calendar and serves as editor of the alumni magazine, annual report, and monthly e-newsletter. She directs content management for the college website and works with directors to ensure unit websites are current and follow official style and branding protocols. She also coordinates e-mail invitations for lectures and manages the college’s social media presence.
Angela grew up a navy brat and lived in eight states before she graduated high school. She studied landscape architecture at Mississippi State University for three years before deciding to pursue a career in publishing. She graduated from the University of Mississippi with a BA in English and a minor in history and is a graduate of the University of Denver Publishing Institute. She worked at John F. Blair, Publisher, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, for nine years, where she was involved with book production and design, editing, and publicity before being promoted to vice president of sales and marketing. She moved to Baton Rouge and joined the staff at the College of Art & Design in the summer of 2013.
