The School of Art faculty are dedicated to helping you create and develop your best work. Ongoing critiques and advice from professors are an integral part of the curriculum. But faculty members go beyond that. Because the concentration areas are small, you have an opportunity to get to know professors on a one-on-one basis. Professors frequently help students get internships and summer study positions at prestigious programs.
The School of Art attracts nationally and internationally recognized artists and scholars. Faculty maintain active relationships with many of the country's important galleries and museums, providing critical connections between the academic program and the larger art community. In addition, faculty members regularly show their own work at national and regional exhibitions and receive prestigious national grants. The art history faculty are active both in publishing and lecturing.
Bringing the professional art world into the school brings students and community members face-to-face with artists they might not otherwise meet or learn from. Visitors include painters, printmakers, sculptors and other artists, as well as museum administrators, visiting professors and others.
