(Baton Rouge) – The College of Art and Design is proud to announce that graduating senior Isral Duke has received an honorable mention award in an international poster design competition to promote study abroad in Germany. He was among a handful of more than 47 contestants from around the world to receive such recognition.
The competition was sponsored by DAAD (daad.org), the group that arranges university exchanges between Canada, Germany, and the United States. The contest parameters were to promote Germany as an educational destination to Canadian and American Students. Duke’s design uses flag symbology and evocative negative space to represent the three countries.
“I was very excited to tell the Graphic Design faculty, who were very excited for me,” said Duke, a native of Louisiana. “To place in an international competition in my last semester before graduation is certainly an honor.”
College officials had words of praise for Duke and for the credibility that his award brings to the graphic design program and the College of Art and Design. “We are very happy for Duke,” said Dean David Cronrath. “This once again shows just how highly regarded our students and faculty are – not only nationally but internationally as well.”
