Students wishing to enter the program should apply for admission directly to the LSU Graduate School. The following materials are required:

(a) Application for Admission to the Graduate School, including a narrative statement of purpose.
(b) Application fee.
(c) One set of official transcripts of all previous college or university work.
(d) Appropriate test scores (GRE and, for many international applicants, TOEFL).

In addition to the material noted above, at least two but preferably three confidential letters of recommendation written on official letterhead stationery are required. These should be sent to the Art History Graduate Coordinator in the School of Art.

The Art History program accepts applicants for both fall and spring semesters but not for summer semesters. Application deadlines are March 1 for the following fall semester and October 1 for the following spring semester.
