Welcome to our website, and thank you for your interest in Art History at Louisiana State University. Our programs, leading to both the B.A. and the M.A. degrees, are among the finest and most comprehensive in the South. With seven permanent faculty members, we offer an unusually broad spectrum of courses in the history of European, American, and Asian art, design, and new media.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with us, LSU is Louisiana’s “flagship university” and ranks in the top 2% of the nation’s institutions of higher learning. Located on the Mississippi River in Baton Rouge, capital of Louisiana and heart of a metropolitan area comprising over 750,000 people, our campus is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful in America. Given the quality of our program and the outstanding research facilities of our university, not to mention the unique physical and cultural resources of South Louisiana, with its semi-tropical climate, its lush foliage of live oak and magnolia trees, its distinctive cuisine, and its rich heritage of popular music, we believe you will find no more pleasant place to study, to teach, to live, or simply to visit.
I hope that this website will provide you with whatever information you need about Art History at LSU, but if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me. Additional information about LSU may also be found on the World Wide Web at the address www.LSU.edu.
Sincerely,
