Senior Madeline Kornman developed a passion for art at a young age, but didn’t think of it as a serious career. However, when she discovered digital art, she knew that it was the right career choice for her. She loves that she has the ability to create digital worlds that leave a lasting impression on people.
“You can create stories with all art forms, but it’s not the same as being able to see your work on screen,” said Madeline.
Previously, Madeline interned at Incendii VFX, LLC, in New Orleans. During her time at Incendii, Madeline had the opportunity to shadow her boss on projects such as NCIS: New Orleans and Transformers: Age of Extinction. She also got to work on the Academy Award winning film Selma and a music video for German musician Curse entitled, “Tatooine.” Her internship has allowed her to meet other people in her field who can give her advice about her work. Her internship actually just got her a new job at 3rd Dimension Media in Baton Rouge. She says that she wouldn’t have gotten the job without the experience she gained at Incendii.
“Knowing that it doesn’t end after graduation really helps,” said Madeline.
Madeline was awarded Student Worker of the Year by LSU Financial Aid & Scholarships for her work at CADGIS at the LSU College of Art & Design. CADGIS is dedicated to teaching and research in the areas of computer-aided design, image processing, and other computer applications in art, architecture, interior design, and landscape architecture. She helps other students print their projects on a variety of media and teaches them how to use different software.
LSU Student of the Year is awarded annually to a student worker across all disciplines. Each unit or department is able and encouraged to submit excellent student workers who embody a strong work ethic and who have made a significant impact in their work role.
As an artist, Madeline sometimes feels like her work is never complete; however, digital art leaves her feeling satisfied with her work.
