SUMMARY:Into the Mystic: 14th Annual Summer Invitational Art Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:The LSU School of Art Alfred C. Glassell Jr. Exhibition Gallery in the Shaw Center for the Arts is hosting the 14th Annual Summer Invitational Art Exhibition: Into the Mystic\, July 11–August 12\, 2015. A public opening reception will be held on July 11\, 2015\, 7–9 p.m. The exhibition is sponsored by Carl and Susie Blyskal. \nThe 50-plus participating artists include LSU faculty\, alumni\, and local artists\, who have been asked to create art in all media based on the theme of Into the Mystic—also the theme of the reception! Angel-hair pasta salad . . . Green Goddess dip with fresh vegetables . . . angel and devil’s food cupcakes\, plus a fortune teller and roving magician! The winner of the Michael Crespo Award for Excellence will be announced at the reception. This year’s jurors are Leslie Charleville and Scott Finch. \nCommunity art outreach and local art awareness is part of the LSU School of Art’s mission. The festival atmosphere of this fun environment is intended to link community and art. Based on past turnouts\, the gallery is expecting at least 300 attendees at the opening reception with a total estimated number of 1\,000 gallery visitors over the span of the exhibition.
