SUMMARY:LSU Hilltop Arboretum Spring Garden Tour
DESCRIPTION:Join the Friends of the LSU Hilltop Arboretum for their spring garden tour\, Space to Space: Harmonizing Gardens and Homes\, Sunday\, May 15\, 2016\, 1-5 p.m.\nDon’t we all want a room with a view? For so long a home and the garden outside were designed as independent spaces\, very often at different times. But with the renewed interest in the outdoors\, our homes and garden spaces today are more connected. We want to bring the outside in and move our families easily from inside to outside. The LSU Hilltop Arboretum spring garden tour will show you how this is done. The homes on the tour show how outdoor spaces were considered into the design of the homes. Don’t miss these gardens in Old Goodwood and White Oak Landing! \nGarden tour hosts are: \n\nTricia Day and Joe Simmons\, 7212 Joliet Avenue\, 70806;\nSharon and Chris Warner\, 904 Audubon Avenue\, 70806;\nMonique and Brent Evans\, 4736 Woodlake Drive\, 70817; and\nVirginia and Charles Yarbrough\, 18626 Tranquility Court\, 70817.\n\nMonique and Brent Evans will also include their craftsman-style home in the tour. \nRefreshments will be served in the garden of Sharon and Chris Werner in Old Goodwood. \nYou can start the tour at any of the four gardens featured. Visit lsu.edu/hilltop for garden descriptions and a tour map. \nTour tickets are $20 and available for purchase at the LSU Hilltop Arboretum\, online at lsu.edu/hilltop\, or at each garden the day of the tour. Student tickets (with ID) are $5. \nBefore or after you tour the gardens\, a nice selection of plants will be available for sale at the LSU Hilltop Arboretum at 11855 Highland Road from 1-5 p.m. \nThe LSU Hilltop Arboretum strives to be a nationally recognized center for the study of plants and landscape design. The 14-acre nature preserve is noted for its collection of more than 150 species of plants native to Louisiana\, its unique topography\, and its reputation as a readily accessible space where people can experience and learn about nature\, plants\, and the Louisiana landscape. \nPictured above: Home garden of Sharon and Chris Warner \n
