SUMMARY:LSU School of Art 9th Statewide Juried High School Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:PROSPECTUS   \nThe LSU School of Art will host the 9th Statewide Juried art exhibition for high school artists. The LSU School of Art—one of the largest and most comprehensive art schools in the region—will showcase selected works from students representing all areas of the state. The goal of the exhibition is to inspire young artists and showcase the finest\, artistic student talent in Louisiana. In its ninth year\, the exhibition provides a platform for students’ work to be displayed in a professional artistic venue and offers insights into professional artist experiences. \nThe exhibition will be held March 7–March 22\, 2025\, in the Barnes Ogden Art & Design Complex Gallery on LSU’s campus. Winners will be announced and prizes will be awarded at a closing reception for the artists on March 22\, 2025 from 1-3 p.m. \nAWARDS  \nFirst\, second\, and third-place winners will be selected\, and honorable mentions will be awarded in the following amounts. A special award will be made to the teacher/program with the best overall showing. First Place: $350; Second Place: $250; Third Place: $150; Honorable Mention(s): $50 \nJURORS \nScott Andresen\, Associate Professor\, Art/Foundations \nWill Maxen\, Assistant Professor of Practice\, Painting/ Drawing \nJoe Nivens\, Assistant Professor of Practice\, Digital Art \nSUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS \nArtwork must be submitted by a high school teacher or representative. Each high school teacher/representative may enter up to 8 submissions (artworks) within your school’s entry. Please note that this is a juried show. Entries are not guaranteed acceptance. There are no fees associated with submission. Any piece created by students at any time during their high school education may be submitted. (Teachers may add up to 8 pieces by 8 different students or 2 pieces by 4 students\, for example.) Please add all images\, by all students before clicking submit. \nhttps://highschoollsuart.artcall.org/ \nACCEPTED MEDIA / PRESENTATION REQUIREMENTS  \nPaintings\, prints\, drawings\, sculpture\, ceramics\, photographs\, computer-generated art\, digital media that can be presented on shared tv\, and mixed media artwork that meet the following specifications are eligible for submission. No work can be suspended from the ceiling. Two-dimensional work must not exceed 40 inches wide by 68 inches high. Three-dimensional work must not exceed 36 inches high by 23 inches wide and 23 inches deep. The maximum weight for any submitted piece is 40 lbs. Work must be physical and tangible and must be able to be displayed for the duration of the exhibition. All two-dimensional works must be framed and ready to hang for a professional gallery with the appropriate mounting hardware (d-rings\, wire\, cleats\, etc). Using tape to secure hanging wire is unacceptable. All pastel and charcoal drawings must be sprayed with fixative. All three-dimensional works must be structurally sound with all components securely fastened. \nIMPORTANT DATES  \nFebruary 5\, 2025 5:00 p.m. – Submissions must be uploaded via ArtCall website. \nFebruary 18\, 2025 – Teachers/schools will be notified of selected works \nFebruary 20–March 1\, 2025 – Hand deliveries accepted at Glassell Gallery during regular hours; Glassell Gallery is open Tuesday-Sunday 12-5 (open until 7 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays). Glassell Gallery is located at 100 Lafayette Street Baton Rouge\, LA 70801; a loading zone is directly in front of the gallery. Mailed works should be addressed to Courtney Taylor ATTTN: High School Exhibition\, 31 South Campus Drive Room 1000\, Baton Rouge\, LA 70803 \nMarch 1\, 2025 – Selected works must received by the School of Art via mail or hand delivery. \nMarch 7\, 2025 – The exhibition will be on view in Barnes Ogden Gallery\, which is open to the public Monday–Friday\, 8:30–4:30 p.m. Please let us know if you are bringing a group from your school. Fridays are best! \nMarch 22\, 2025 – 1:00–3:00 p.m. – Closing Reception/Awards – A reception and awards presentation will be held in the Barnes Ogden Gallery from 1:00-3:00 p.m. The exhibition closes at 3:00 p.m. and teachers/schools are allowed to take work from their school with them at the end of the reception;   \nMarch 30\, 2025 – Hand-delivered artwork not taken at closing reception must be picked up by March 30 in Glassell Gallery; Glassell Gallery is located at 100 Lafayette Street Baton Rouge\, LA 70801; a loading zone is directly in front of the gallery.
