DESCRIPTION:Ron English\, Popaganda artist\, will present a lecture titled “Popaganda\,” in partnership with Baton Rouge Gallery at the LSU College of Art & Design at 5 p.m. on Monday\, January 29\, 2018\, in the LSU Design Building Auditorium (room 103).\nOne of the most prolific and recognizable artists alive today\, New York-based painter\, designer and street artist has bombed the global landscape with unforgettable images\, on the street\, in museums\, in movies\, books\, television\, and music. English coined the term Popaganda to describe his signature mash-up of high and low cultural touchstones\, from superhero mythology to totems of art history\, creating a visual language that turns advertising into “subvertizing” and parody into illumination. \nEnglish is serving as the juror in partnership with Baton Rouge Gallery for Surreal Salon X.
