Julie Elliott is an associate professor of practice at the LSU School of Interior Design. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design from LSU School of Interior Design and a Master of Healthcare Innovation from The Ohio State School of Nursing. Her master’s capstone focused on innovations to support cancer patients from rural communities going through radiation treatment away from home. She has advanced certifications in Healthcare Design and Evidence Based Design (EDAC). She is a member of The American Academy of Healthcare Interior Designers (CHID). Her research interests are in healthcare design for underserved populations focusing on access and equity; she has engaged with community partnerships that include Habitat for Humanity, Catholic Charities, Our Lady of the Lake Health System and The Louisiana School for the Deaf.
Elliott has over 25 years of planning, design, and project management experience, specifically in the healthcare arena. She has led healthcare projects, coordinating stakeholders on the owner’s side. She worked as a designer and knowledge leader in flexible work environments and patient-centered care. Julie has worked in leadership roles alongside large healthcare networks developing new construction and renovation projects that include Stanford Health Care, Veterans Health System, Catholic Health Initiatives and Kaiser Permanente.
