Art & Design Spring 2018 Diploma Ceremony

The LSU College of Art & Design Spring 2018 Diploma Ceremony will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, May 11, in the LSU Student Union Theater.
*Graduates should assemble at the LSU Student Union Theater no later than 11:15 a.m.*
A.P. Tureaud Jr. will deliver the commencement address. In 1953, A.P. Tureaud Jr. was the first person of color to attend the LSU undergraduate school. He became a symbol of integration in higher education, and paved the way for future minority students. LSU College of Art & Design Dean Alkis Tsolakis will present Tureaud with an Honor Award for his contributions to education. Tureaud was awarded an honorary doctorate from LSU in 2011.
John Cryer (B. Arch ’71) and Perry Howard (BLA ’75) will receive the Distinguished Alumni Award for their noteworthy work in their respective fields. Cryer is CEO of Page Southerland Page in Houston, TX; he transformed the firm of 100+ architecture and engineering professionals. Professor Emeritus Perry Howard was the first African American president of the American Society of Landscape Architects, leading the national organization into the 21st century and expanding its global reach. Howard has led a remarkable career of service.
Due to limited seating and fire code regulations, each graduating candidate will be allotted only five tickets for friends and family to attend (candidates are not required to have a ticket). Tickets may be picked up at the in room 102 Design Building (Dean’s Office) between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. from Monday, April 14, 2018, and Friday, April 27, 2018. We cannot distribute tickets to anyone other than the candidates who are graduating in spring 2018. Candidates picking up tickets must have their picture ID.
After the ceremony, there will be a reception and Bachelor of Fine Arts Senior Show at the LSU Foster Gallery, where refreshments will be served. All are invited and welcome to attend.
