The Role
LandWest is seeking a Landscape Designer / Architect to join its design team, working primarily on high-end, custom single-family residential projects throughout the Austin area. This role blends design leadership, project management, and hands-on client interaction, working on projects from early concept through construction. This position is ideal for a designer who is highly detail-oriented, creatively driven, and confident working directly with clients, architects, and construction teams. You’ll play an integral role in shaping design intent, producing construction-ready documentation, and supporting the successful realization of each project.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Project Leadership
● Lead and contribute to conceptual, schematic, and design development for custom residential landscape projects
● Develop thoughtful design solutions that respond to site conditions, client goals, and constructability
● Produce clear and compelling design graphics, drawings, and presentations that communicate intent
Construction Documentation & Implementation
● Prepare and coordinate detailed construction documents, including grading, drainage, hardscape, planting, and detailing
● Assist in the creation and refinement of construction drawings and specifications
● Work closely with LandWest’s construction managers to support implementation of the design during construction
● Respond to field questions, review submittals, and assist with design adjustments as needed
Project Management
● Manage projects from design through construction, ensuring alignment across schedules, deliverables, and quality standards
● Coordinate with internal leadership, consultants, and contractors to support smooth project execution
● Maintain organization across multiple active projects while upholding Landwest’s standards for precision and quality
Client Engagement
● Serve as point of contact for clients on assigned projects
● Present design concepts, updates, and documentation clearly and confidently
● Build strong client relationships grounded in professionalism, responsiveness, and trust

Experience & Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture
● 5+ years of professional experience in landscape design / architecture (or equivalent experience) preferred
● Working knowledge of current construction methods, estimating/bidding, and client coordination
● Ability to design detailed grading and drainage plans
● Proficiency in AutoCAD; experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, 3D modeling, and Microsoft Office
● Texas landscape architecture licensure (RLA) a plus, but not required
Work Environment & Schedule
● Full-time, in-office and field-based role
● Office located in Southwest Austin (78737)
