Gallery 229 presents Documenting Thailand’s Agricultural Industry, a collection of photographs by Lily LaGrange, who traveled to Southeast Asia in June 2017. The exhibition will be on display November 27–December 10, 2017.

LaGrange’s goal was to study sustainable farming models across Thailand. Surprises arose surrounding the agro-tourism and research sectors of the agricultural industry. While visiting farms and research facilities from Chiang Mai to Chon Buri, LaGrange learned that a sustainable model does not always equate to an ethical one. Her resulting work investigates agricultural processes in Thailand and the ever-present conflict among environmental sustainability, economic growth, and ethical principles.
