Fact and Fiction: Imagining the West by Jeremiah Ariaz, associate professor of photography at the LSU School of Art, is on view at the Cole Pratt Gallery in New Orleans, December 2–27, 2014. An opening reception will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2014, from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

The exhibition combines photographs of Tucumcari, New Mexico, with images from the Tabernas Desert in Spain. This barren landscape on the Almeria province was often used as a substitute for the United States in “Spaghetti Western” films. Together, the color photographs represent a modern day western that explores the tension between the actual west and an imagined west.
