How High’s the Water, Mama?
15th Annual Summer Invitational Art Exhibition
June 25–August 14, 2016
Reception: Saturday, July 16, 7–9 p.m.
It’s been a pretty wet year here in the River City, with assorted floods and storms and all mater of aquatic folderol. The Mississippi River has inspired artists for centuries. Why stop now? More than 50 artists have been challenged to sculpt, paint, print, pot, weave, collage, and photograph their thoughts on the subject and then bring the original art to the LSU School of Art’s Glassell Gallery for a great big art exhibition! Local favorites such as Edward Pramuk, Jonathan Mayers, Sissy Albertine, Evan Gomez, and Charles Barbier, and many more, will be amazing us with their creative works.
One especially talented artist will receive the Michael Crespo Prize for Excellence, sponsored by Libby Johnson. This year’s jurors are Daniel and Catherine Stetson. Daniel Stetson is the director of the LSU Museum of Art, and Catherine Stetson is an accomplished artist. Previous year’s winners were Rebecca Kreisler and Kevin Duffy. We are also grateful to the support of our friends group and the generosity of Carl and Susie Blyskal, Nancy Jo Porrier, and Cara Kearns.
Come join us; it’s going to be a fantastic exhibition!
