Michel Haillard Reception
February 26 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

A reception & studio experience with Michel Haillard, polymorphus artist, will be held Wednesday, February 26 at 5:30 p.m. at the Barnes Odgen Art & Design Complex Gallery.
Michel Haillard, créateur d’univers
Michel Haillard creates sculptural furniture using “exotic” materials, such as alligator skin. Among Haillard’s patrons is the king of Morocco; the headquarters of the Cirque de Soleil in Canada were designed by him, and he has created a giant “throne sculpture” sitting on the Mongolian-Chinese border. He has also worked frequently in Brazil.
During week-long residence at LSU, Haillard will work in an improvised “pop-up” studio in the Barnes Ogden Design Complex gallery, where he will convert a vintage 1980s “Miss Pac-Man” pinball machine into a flamboyant, interactive alligator-themed sculpture. The reception will celebrate the conclusion of this creative performance.
The project is organized in collaboration with Casey Stannard, associate professor of Textiles, Apparel Design, and Merchandising in the College of Agriculture, who will use these events as an educational opportunity on wildlife management in Louisiana.
