Owen Lang, FASLA, fall 2015 Nadine Carter Russell Endowed Chair, will present, “Repurposing Urban Waterfronts,” at the LSU College of Art & Design in the LSU Design Building Auditorium, room 103, at 5 p.m. on Monday, October 26, 2015.

Lang has 40 years of experience involving significant master planning, site planning, and urban design projects. His expertise includes urban mixed use districts, downtown revitalization plans, urban waterfronts, community design plans, corporate/commercial facilities, transit oriented developments, and recreation/resort facilities. His broad range of experience involves working with multi-jurisdictional agencies, special interest groups, and community groups, forging a shared understanding and support for public and private improvements. His strong physical design sense and graphic skills allow him to communicate design concepts throughout the progressive phases of a project.

Prior to establishing Owen Lang Consulting, Lang was a Principal of Sasaki Associates’ San Francisco office from 1983 to 2009. His professional history includes site design and planning at nationally-renowned firms including SWA Group, EDAW, Wallace McHarg Roberts and Todd, Sasaki Dawson DeMay & Associates, and Lawrence Halprin & Associates.

Lang received a BS in landscape architecture from California State Polytechnic University’s School of Environmental Design and a MLA from Harvard Graduate School of Design. He is a fellow of the American Society of Landscape Architects and a member of Urban Land Institute.

Lang is one of two 2015–16 Nadine Carter Russell Endowed Chairs, a rotating residency shared among the four disciplines in the College of Art & Design—this year’s residency is with the LSU Robert Reich School of Landscape Architecture. Lang will serve as the fall Nadine Carter Russell Chair, and Catherine Seavitt Nordenson will serve as Nadine Carter Russell Chair in spring 2016.
