Persian Threads by Emily Green

Persian Threads is a personal project based on the artist’s grandfather, his Iranian heritage, and the way that heritage has become a thread that weaves through the rest of the family. The project was completed using a large-format film camera, allowing the artist to capture the vibrant colors and details of the objects and people she depicts. Persian rugs recur in many of the photos, representing Iran and its many facets and traditions. At the heart of the series is her grandfather’s immigration: how he merges his past with the life he has now, and how cultural heritage can be passed down within the family.
Emily Green is a junior in the LSU School of Art, majoring in Studio Art with a focus in photography.
