Taylor Jacobsen and Clint Conroy on the Role of UAVs in Today’s Society
November 10, 2015 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Two recent LSU graduates, Taylor Jacobsen (BLA 2014) and Clint Conroy (BSCM 2015), will present an informative talk at the LSU College of Art & Design on Tuesday, November 10, 6–8 p.m., in the Design Building Auditorium, room 103. This event is free and open to the public.
Jacobsen and Conroy combined their talents, educational backgrounds, and work experience to found United Aerial, a Dallas-based company focused on integrating the use of unmanned aerial vehicles in the fields of agriculture, construction, design, inspection, search and rescue, and photography. United Jacobsen and Conroy will discuss the ways their company provides clients with UAV technology, equipment, and ongoing support in a seamless, safe, and cost-effective manner. The two young entrepreneurs will also share insights on emerging UAV technology and how they believe this new tool will play an important role in our natural and built worlds and, perhaps, may become an industry standard.
Jacobsen interned with Studio Outside Landscape Architects in Dallas and worked with Reich Associates in Baton Rouge while starting Total Outdoor Maintenance and Design. He has more than seven years of experience in landscape architecture and master planning and brings a strong focus toward project management and real-time design collaboration. At his most recent position with Callison Architecture & Planning in Dallas, Jacobsen expanded his experience at the local, regional, and international level working on projects in the United States, Dominican Republic, Middle East, and China. Currently, Jacobsen is helping to build the UAV search and rescue program in Dallas for Search One Rescue Team, the largest and most active search and rescue organization in Texas.
Leveraging his education in construction management and computer science, Conroy has six years of real-world experience in information technology and a strong focus on project documentation and organization for commercial construction projects in South Louisiana and Houston, Dallas, and Midland, Texas. His experience as a project engineer with MAPP Construction, LLC, and as a laborer and assistant project engineer at W.S. Bellow Construction Corp in Texas has given Conroy further insight into the inner workings of the construction field. Conroy believes the use of small UAVs and their supporting technology will deliver new and improved project monitoring, allowing management and ownership to analyze site documentation with increased efficiency, cost effectiveness, and accuracy.
