Matt Jones is an instructor of record for the College of Art & Design at Louisiana State University. He received his BA from Colorado State University in Fort Collins and his MFA from Louisiana State University, with a concentration in ceramic arts. Matt has held teaching positions in public education, worked as the resident artist for the Richard Carter Studio, and has served on the for Next Gallery and the Arvada Ceramic Arts Guild in Colorado. His studio practice focuses heavily upon research and explorations of the American West. Through the crafting of primarily ceramic objects and installations, Matt navigates the many myths, complicated histories, and contemporary concerns of this landscape through familiar but nuanced artifacts. As an expansion of his studio work, Matt also works with a small network of designers and boutique shops throughout the country, crafting custom, branded wares as well as decorative and sculptural work.
