Olga Ryan is a Doctor of Design student at Louisiana State University whose work bridges museum conservation, digital cultural heritage, design, and information technology. As a Graduate Research Assistant in LSU’s School of Information Studies, she contributes to interdisciplinary research focused on digital preservation, cultural heritage, and public engagement.
Her academic journey reflects a strong interdisciplinary foundation. She began graduate studies in the Theory and Methodology of Teaching Foreign Languages and Cultures at Irkutsk State Linguistic University, before shifting her research interests toward museum studies and cultural heritage preservation. She later earned a master’s degree from Moscow State Linguistic University and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Design degree at Louisiana State University. Her academic background is complemented by professional experience in the software-as-a-service (SaaS) industry, where she worked in quality assurance (QA), web development, digital product design, and digital marketing.
Olga’s doctoral research focuses on sustainable digital preservation strategies for galleries, libraries, archives, and museums (GLAM). She investigates how metadata standards, provenance documentation, and digital authenticity frameworks can be integrated into practical, standards-based workflows that support the long-term stewardship of born-digital cultural heritage. Her work emphasizes scalable, accessible solutions that help small and medium-sized cultural institutions preserve digital collections while strengthening trust, transparency, and public access.
By combining expertise in design, technology, museum practice, and information science, Olga aims to develop practical preservation frameworks that make digital cultural heritage more sustainable and accessible for future generations.
