Landscape Architecture
Seth Rodewald-Bates joined Spackman Mossop Michaels in New Orleans in July 2014 after working for eight years as an associate with Newton Landscape Group, a design-build firm in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Prior to working in South Louisiana, Seth worked for Sasaki Associates in Boston, Massachusetts, and the Chinati Foundation/La Fundación Chinatiin Marfa, Texas. Seth has also taught undergraduate and graduate level courses at Stephen F. Austin State University, Boston Architectural College, LSU’s Robert Reich School of Landscape Architecture, and Tulane’s School of Architecture. He received a Bachelor of Science in Horticulture, magna cum laude, from Stephen F. Austin State University and, in 2005, a Master of Landscape Architecture from the LSU Robert Reich School of Landscape Architecture. He is licensed to practice landscape architecture in Mississippi and Louisiana.
In 2014, Seth and his wife, Elisabeth Davies, built and moved into their new home—made out of two, four-ton shipping containers—in Uptown New Orleans. Years ago, Seth’s interest in container architecture was piqued during a graduate studio at RRSLA that looked at industrial canals and shipping in New Orleans.
