January 23, 2015 - January 25, 2015
25$Registration for Global Game Jam 2015 at LSU is now open!
In January 2014, 488 locations in 72 countries created more than 4,000 games in one weekend during Global Game Jam. Global Game Jam is the world’s largest game jam event (game creation), brought to LSU by the LSU Center for Computation & Technology and Digital Media Arts & Engineering Program. Think of it as a hack-a-thon focused on game development. It is the growth of an idea that in today’s heavily connected world, we can come together, be creative, share experiences and express ourselves in a multitude of ways using video games—it is very universal. The weekend stirs a global creative buzz in games, while at the same time exploring the process of development, be it programming, iterative design, narrative exploration or artistic expression. It is all condensed into a 48 hour development cycle. Global Game Jam encourages people with all kinds of backgrounds to participate and contribute to this global spread of game development and creativity.
Anyone age 18 and up may attend—amateurs through professionals. Minors may attend if accompanied by their legal guardian. Designers, developers, artists, and more are welcome to try their hand at making a game during the Global Game Jam. Registration is $25 per person.
