Diagonal Twist Study, 2012, by Andy Pankhurst

Artists Jane Patterson and Andy Pankhurst will present an LSU School of Art lecture, “Air in Painting,” at 5 p.m. on Thursday, November 5, 2015, in the LSU Design Building Auditorium (room 103).

Jane Patterson is a painter whose work is inspired by her close environment and its unusual coastal setting. She studied at the Slade School of Fine Art,  University College London, during the professorship of Sir William Coldstream and under the tutelage of Euan Uglow, Patrick George, and Lucian Freud. She taught at the Slade and other art institutes and has paintings in private and public collections. Her work is represented by Browse & Darby, London, where she has a forthcoming exhibition in 2016.

Andy Pankhurst also studied and taught at the Slade School of Fine Art. Pankhurst is a figurative painter whose work is represented in various public, corporate, and private collections and museums in the UK and US. His work is represented by Browse & Darby, London, with his most recent show of paintings and drawings in November 2014. Pankhurst is coauthor, with Lucinda Hawksley, of What Makes Great Art, published in 2012 by Frances London. Visit andypankhurst.com for more information about the artist.
