Jonathan Pellitteri, School of Art Lecture
October 1, 2015 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Jonathan Pellitteri will lecture at the LSU School of Art at 6 p.m. on Thursday, October 1, 2015, in room 220 of the Design Building.
Pellitteri is an artist currently working in Charlotte, North Carolina. Early in life Pellitteri was drawn to the physical nature of construction and pursued a career as a carpenter before completing his formal art training (BFA University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth, MFA Louisiana State University). Lessons learned in school and in the trades weigh heavily on the methods and materials employed in his sculptures. After leaving his native New England, Pellitteri found inspiration in the culture and landscape of the Deep South. Nearly a decade living in Louisiana provided an invaluable supply of imagery from which he draws on to develop his sculptures and drawings.
Pellitteri was a recipient of an International Sculpture Center Outstanding Achievement in Contemporary Sculpture Award and was a finalist for the McColl Award in 2014. He has been an artist in residence at Art St. Urban, Switzerland, and was the James Rosenquist visiting artist at North Dakota State University. Pellitteri’s artwork has been exhibited at museums and galleries throughout the South and Northeast and is held in numerous public, private, and corporate collections in the United States and Europe.
