Rooted Communities features 22 sculptures, works on paper, and mixed-media installations by Jamaican-born artist Nari Ward. The exhibition will be on view from February 7 through January 18, 2015. Based in New York, Ward explores controversial issues surrounding citizenship, cultural consumption, discrimination, race, and poverty. His powerful yet delicate works reveal his profound respect for the process of making art, which can transform the mundane and unattractive into something of great beauty. Ward is the recipient of the 2013–14 Nadine Carter Russell Chair, a rotating residency in the LSU College of Art & Design.
