Joseph Benjamin, Lake|Flato Architects partner, will give School of Architecture lecture on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at 4:00 p.m. in 103 Julian T. White Hall Auditorium (formerly Design Building.)

Joe Benjamin is a partner at Lake|Flato Architects based in San Antonio with a diverse list of project accomplishments. He has worked on projects across the country with a particular focus on civic-spirited projects that engage the public. His approach to design is pragmatic and holistic, grounded in a belief that great projects come from great relationships. His commitment to integrating sustainable design strategies that account for the overall lifespan of each building combined with his technical aptitude have resulted in projects that successfully celebrate the synergies between building and landscape, passive and active systems, materiality and craft, and budget and performance. Prior to his career in architecture, Joe worked in the construction industry, which gave him a practical and pragmatic understanding of architecture. In his 20+ years with Lake|Flato, Joe has been committed to creating collaborative relationships between all stakeholder groups to create an environment focused on providing owners with the best possible solutions. He has gained a reputation for being a calm and focused leader that is able to manage difficult project situations to create practical high performance facilities that leverage climate and context and connect users to the natural landscape.
