Zachary Angles Lecture

November 20, 2019 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Zachary Angles

Zachary Angles, LSU architecture instructor, will present a School of Architecture lecture at the LSU College of Art & Design at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, November 20, 2019, in the LSU Design Building Auditorium (room 103).

Zachary Angles is an instructor of architecture at Louisiana State University. He received a Bachelor of Science in architecture from the Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning at the University of Michigan. He studied at the École de Beaux-Arts in Fontainebleau before attending the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he completed his Masters of Architecture. Zachary’s research approaches architectural design as a medium of world-building and explores its inherent narrative and speculative dimensions. He has worked at award-winning offices on a wide array of projects ranging from landscape architecture to industrial architecture, residential architecture to graphic design, sculptural installations to architectural lighting design.

Zachary’s research interests are located at the intersections between architecture, fiction, and world-building. More specifically, he researches how world-building, scenario planning, and an architectural imagination can be used to mitigate risk, design resilient, and anticipate externalities of the built world. While at M.I.T., he founded the Storytelling Space Group, a research group and design office, to support world-building projects in architecture, urbanism, and related fields. He is developing a book length project of the life of art-brut cartographer Jerry Gretzinger and his map. He served as editor of thresholds 45: MYTH and has taught workshops at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the University of Michigan, the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, the University of Stuttgart, and the Adolfo Ibáñez University’s Design Lab.
