David Eichelberger Joins Ceramics Faculty
The LSU School of Art is pleased to announce the appointment of David Eichelberger as the newest member of the ceramics faculty, beginning the 2026-2027 academic year.Eichelberger brings an expansive background in studio practice, teaching, design-business experience and leadership within the field of contemporary ceramics. He received his MFA from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and his BFA from Virginia Tech, and was a resident artist at the Penland School of Craft from 2011–2014.
An active exhibiting artist whose work has been shown nationally, Eichelberger has taught at leading craft institutions including Penland School of Craft, Arrowmont School of Arts & Crafts, and Haystack Mountain School of Crafts. His international experience includes work at the Australian National University in Canberra through an International Travel Grant awarded by NCECA.
Eichelberger’s studio practice uses the language of vessels to explore formal concerns grounded in ideas of utility, function, and purpose. In addition to his individual studio work, he co-operates TWO-ONE Ceramics — a small-scale ceramics manufacturing studio specializing in contemporary design — with his wife, artist Elisa Di Feo. He also served as the Founding Director of the Marlboro Studio School in southern Vermont.
“His appointment reflects the LSU School of Art’s continued commitment to excellence in ceramics education and creative research,” ceramics associate professor Mikey Walsh said. “The School looks forward to the academic and business experience Eichelberger will bring to LSU’s nationally recognized undergraduate and graduate program, and to the continued growth of a dynamic and inclusive ceramics community at LSU.”
