Ron English Popaganda
Artist Ron English presented a lecture titled “Popaganda,” in partnership with Baton Rouge Gallery, at the LSU College of Art & Design at 5 p.m. on Monday, January 29, 2018, in the LSU Design Building Auditorium (room 103).
One of the most prolific and recognizable artists alive today, New York-based painter, designer and street artist has bombed the global landscape with unforgettable images, on the street, in museums, in movies, books, television, and music. English coined the term Popaganda to describe his signature mash-up of high and low cultural touchstones, from superhero mythology to totems of art history, creating a visual language that turns advertising into “subvertizing” and parody into illumination.
English served as the juror for the Baton Rouge Gallery’s Surreal Salon X exhibition.
