Distinguished Faculty Awards 2019

College of Art & Design faculty members were honored for their achievements at the 2019 Distinguished Faculty Awards Presentation April 29, 2019.

Professor Spieth discusses his research at the Louvre in France

Art history professor Darius Spieth received the San Diego Alumni Association Chapter Alumni Professorship, for his contributions to the LSU art history discipline. Nominees for alumni professorships possess a reputation for excellence in instruction, especially in undergraduate teaching; a record of active and continuing interest and participation in areas of professor-student relations; dedication to his academic field; and outstanding professional relationships with other faculty and staff members.

Spieth recently published the book Revolutionary Paris and the Market for Netherlandish Art. He will present his research at the Festival of Art History at Fountainebleau, France in June 2018.

Architecture undergraduate coordinator Kristen Kelsch received the 2019 CxC Outstanding Faculty Award, recognized by the Office of Academic Affairs as a faculty member who contributes in many ways such as teaching communication-intensive courses, advising distinguished communicator candidates, participating in faculty development initiatives, and securing grants to support CxC studios, and publishing CxC-related scholarship.

The College of Art & Design annual Tiger Athletic Foundation Undergraduate Teaching Awards were awarded to William Ma, assistant professor of art history, and Angeliki Sioli, assistant professor of architecture.
