Curriculum

Nothing is more satisfying than creating.

Those who are driven to study architecture quickly realize that the architecture program is not an easy one. However, those who do so discover that nothing is more satisfying than creating.

A unique aspect of the design curriculum is the studio atmosphere. Students enroll in sequential design studios during every semester of the program, starting in the fall of their first year. Studios are six-credit-hour project-based courses that focus on the act of designing, introducing students to design principles, methods, and the creative process through studio-wide and individual critiques.

Normal course progress is imperative for students undertaking the Bachelor of Architecture curriculum. Students who fail to complete required courses more than one year later than the time designated in the curriculum will be prohibited from advancement in the design studio sequence until the courses are completed. Thirty-nine hours of general education courses as required by the university must be completed prior to entering third year. The architectural curriculum requires enrollment in specific general education courses, including Physics (physical science), Architectural History (humanities), and Appreciation of Architecture (arts). Courses listed below are to be scheduled in the sequence in which they are listed.
