Design Shop

Our onsite workshop is full of useful equipment to help out students meet all their design needs.

The Design Shop at the LSU College of Art & Design provides students with a workspace, hand tools, and power machinery for a variety of uses and materials. Under the supervision of the Design Shop Manager, Mark Shumake, this large and comprehensive workshop is available for student use to complete class projects. Monday–Thursday: 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Friday: 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Saturday: closed
Sunday: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

ID Requirements

Students must complete Design Shop orientation and pass the orientation test before using Design Shop equipment. Upon successful completion of both requirements, students will receive an identification sticker, allowing access to the facility. The Design Shop is to be used only for school projects and under proper supervision—the shop manager, a shop monitor, or a class instructor. Students must check in with Design Shop personnel upon entering the shop, and all guests must check in and abide by all rules. Guests are not allowed to work with the equipment.
