Landscape Architecture Scholarships

LSU Robert Reich School of Landscape Architecture students who meet the individual scholarship criteria provided below are encouraged to apply. Scholarship recipients are notified and announced each spring.

The criteria, application requirements, and amounts provided below represent the scholarships and amounts awarded in the previous academic year and serve as a general reference—scholarship opportunities and amounts vary from year to year. Scholarships applications are reviewed and chosen applicants awarded each spring.

Alice Hovey Littlefield Scholarship

  • Full-time BLA and MLA students
  • BLA applicants must have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • MLA applicants must have an overall GPA of 3.5 or higher
  • Demonstrate financial need

Alton J. Scavo Endowed Scholarship

  • Full-time BLA students
  • Applicants must have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Selection preference given to students that demonstrate financial need

American Society of Landscape Architects Louisiana Chapter Scholarship

  • Full-time BLA and MLA students
  • BLA applicants must have an overall GPA of 2.75 or higher
  • MLA applicants must have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • ASLA student chapter member 

Andrew “Andy” J. Hart Scholarship

  • Full-time BLA students with an overall GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • Demonstrate financial need

Atwell E. Champion Memorial Scholarship

  • Full-time BLA students with an overall GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • Applicants must be US citizens
  • Demonstrate financial need

Edward & Yvonne Harvey Scholarship | Tuition*

  • Full-time BLA third-, fourth-, or fifth-year students
  • Must have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Demonstrate financial need

Helen A. Reich Memorial Scholarship

  • Full-time BLA and MLA students
  • BLA applicants must have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • MLA applicants must have an overall GPA of 3.5 or higher
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Foreign and out-of-state students a priority

Herbert Wiener/Dr. Robert Reich Endowed Scholarship

  • Full-time BLA students
  • Demonstrate academic good standing

James D. Burnett & Ronald G. “Chip” Tragesar Endowed Scholarship

  • Full-time BLA students

Johnny Steele Endowed Travel and Study Award

  • Full-time BLA or MLA student
  • Must have an overall GPA of 2.5 or higher

Landscape Architecture Endowment Fund

  • Full-time BLA and MLA students
  • BLA students must have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • MLA students must have an overall GPA of 3.5 or higher
  • Demonstrate financial need

Lucien and Mary Lou Cutrera Planning Scholarship

  • Full-time BLA (fourth or fifth year) or MLA student
  • Preferential consideration given first to graduate students with a business undergraduate degree or interest in urban and reginal planning
  • Second to undergraduate students with an interest in urban and regional planning

Neil Odenwald Travel Fund

  • Full-time BLA and MLA students
  • School-sponsored field and educational trips
  • Study abroad 

Robert Reich Endowed Travel Fund

  • Full-time BLA or MLA students
  • Officially required landscape architecture program class trips of two or more days 

School of Landscape Architecture General Scholarship

  • Full- or part-time BLA and MLA students

Stefan and Moyara Pharis Scholarship

  • Full-time BLA student
  • Financial need may be a consideration
  • First preference shall be given to students from South America
  • Second preference to other international students
  • Third preference to a student demonstrating promise as a designer

Tipton Associates Travel Award 

  • Full-time fourth- and fifth-year BArch and BLA students as well as junior- and senior-level BID students who have a 2.5 or higher GPA
  • Full-time MArch and MLA students who have a 2.5 or higher GPA

Torre Scholarship in Landscape Architecture

  • Full-time BLA student with exceptional design talent
  • Demonstrate financial need

William E. Hornsey Memorial Woods & Water Scholarship

  • Full-time third-, fourth-, and fifth-year BLA students
  • Must have an overall GPA of 2.7 or higher
  • Demonstrate ecology interest

Van Cox Scholarship for Student Travel

  • Second-, third-, fourth-, or fifth-year BLA students
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • For required travel only

Alton and Hillery Scavo Award Program

  • Full-time BArch, BFA, BLA, BID student (one from each school)
  • Newly established award on the basis of the theme “social impact”
