“Light is the first element of design; without it there is no color, form, or texture.” – Thomas E. Farin
The School of Interior Design maintains a Lighting Lab funded, in part, through an LSU Student Technology Fee award, and is available to all students and faculty in the College of Art & Design. The Lab was established in 2019 as an interdisciplinary resource for students and faculty to study the art and science of light and application of daylighting and innovative artificial lighting technologies. The Lab features two PC graphics workstations w/ Licaso software, VR headsets, a state-of-the-art Betanit Nitter brand Orange Professional Heliodon, fluorescent, halogen, incandescent and LED lamp kits, the Illuminating Engineering Society digital lighting library, ceiling mounted track lighting, and digital lighting control console.
